My Practice

I create imagined landscapes that invite us to return to ourselves.

Across each body of work, I explore different inner landscapes—acceptance, healing, compassion, wonder, stillness, and hope. Some paintings are inspired by philosophical traditions, while others emerge from personal reflection. Together, they form an ongoing exploration of the places we visit within ourselves as we grow through life.

Over the past decade, my practice has evolved from exploring philosophical ideas through abstraction to creating imagined landscapes. While the visual language has changed, the questions have remained the same: How do we heal, find wonder, and return to ourselves?

2024–Present: The Emergence of My Current Visual Language
Beginning with the atmospheric landscapes created in 2024, my work began to settle into a visual language that felt distinctly my own. Through Atmospheric Landscapes, Meditations in Color, and Something Sacred, I developed a more consistent approach grounded in imagined landscapes, quiet atmosphere, layered color, symbolic details, and small figures moving through expansive spaces.

2017–2021 : Exploring Philosophy Through Paint

Inspired by traditions such as Wabi-Sabi, Kintsugi, Ren, and Taoist philosophy, these paintings reflect an early interest in imperfection, healing, compassion, imagination, and our relationship with the natural world.

Explorations

These works document moments of experimentation, where I explored different visual languages, materials, and compositional approaches while searching for new ways to express inner landscapes. Rather than following a single aesthetic, each painting became an opportunity to ask a different question: How can texture, light, abstraction, and symbolism evoke an emotional place?

Though varied in style, these explorations became an important part of developing the visual language that continues to shape my practice today.

The Gentle Horizon

Inspired by the Taoist principle of Ziran, this series explores the quiet wisdom found in the natural world. Open skies, distant horizons, and small figures reflect a way of being that is unhurried, unforced, and deeply connected to the rhythms of life.

These landscapes are invitations to pause, to notice, and to remember that perhaps our greatest sense of peace comes not from becoming someone else, but from returning to our own nature.

Humaneness

To be human is to remain open—to beauty, to compassion, and to one another.

Inspired by the Confucian philosophy of Ren, this series explores the quiet strength found in kindness and empathy. Rather than grand gestures, these paintings reflect the small moments of connection that remind us of our shared humanity: a gentle presence, an open heart, a simple act of care.

They are an invitation to move through the world with greater tenderness, beginning with ourselves and extending to those around us.

Liberation of the Mind

Every journey begins in the unseen landscape of the mind. This series reflects on the inner world that shapes the way we dream, create, and understand ourselves. It is a celebration of imagination—not as an escape from reality, but as the place where hope, possibility, and transformation first take root.

These paintings invite us to remain curious, to question what we think we know, and to remember that every new path begins as an idea waiting to be explored.

Embrace flaws, broken and cracks

There are parts of ourselves we try to hide—our failures, our grief, the moments that changed us.

Rather than concealing the cracks, these paintings celebrate them as places where resilience, tenderness, and hope quietly emerge.

Weathered, Worn, and Incomplete

I found myself drawn to texture, erosion, and the quiet beauty of imperfect things. This series was inspired by the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi—the idea that there is beauty in what is weathered, unfinished, and changed by time. Rather than searching for perfection, I became interested in surfaces that carried history: worn edges, layered marks, and traces of what came before. These paintings were an exploration of impermanence, inviting the viewer to notice the quiet character that emerges through age, change, and incompleteness.
